PayPal Alternative: Payoneer Fits the Bill

Payoneer ScreenshotBeing a PayPal user for years now, and feeling comforted by the fact that a company like eBay runs it, I was hesitant to take one of our contractors’ suggestions to submit payment to him via Payoneer. What’s wrong with PayPal, I thought. Well it’s not that PayPal is the devil, as some would have you think, but there are alternatives out there – and Payoneer is one of them.

To be honest, after a few months of making payments to this contractor on Payoneer, I was still a little skeptical of this “new” payment processing company.

When it comes to banks and payment processors in general, maybe it’s good to remain a little skeptical at all times, but in the case of Payoneer, my skepticism was relieved at the Affilaite Summit conference in Las Vegas. Payoneer had a booth there, and I got a chance to talk to some of the company representatives…and guess what, they’re real humans. As lame as it sounds, that short conversation with the nice Payoneer reps made me feel a lot better about using the service – which, by the way, had already worked fine for me for several months. Logic might tell you that a good experience with the service would make me feel comfortable using it…but in this case that wasn’t enough for me. It took human interaction.

Now, to be fair, Payoneer is not a total PayPal knockoff. It actually operates on a different premise – something to do with crediting a recipient’s credit card, which I’m not that well versed in. But for our purposes – making one way payments to a Payoneer user’s credit card – it seems to work just fine. And, well, now you know real people are behind the company, too.
